An unhealthy diet is linked to many major health risks such as heart disease, osteoporosis, and certain types of cancer, hypertension (high blood pressure) and type 2 diabetes. These health issues can cause illness and even death. The risk factors for many chronic diseases in adults are already evident in younger ages, often a result of unhealthy eating habits carried into adulthood, hence, healthy diet plans are not limited to the adults but it should be extended to children for a healthy childhood and also, to secure a healthy adulthood.

Now, let’s discuss the importance of diet plans

1. A healthy diet plan provides adequate nutrient for the body

Your body gets the sufficient amount of nutrients it needs for daily optimum performance. you need some amount of calorie for daily activities.  Choose higher fibre or wholegrain varieties, such as whole wheat pasta, brown rice or potatoes with their skins on. Starchy carbohydrates should make up just over a third of the food you eat. This will help you feel full for longer.

2. It lowers your risk for heart disease and other chronic health conditions

A diet plan that contains a reasonable portion of vegetables, fruits and low fat fish are rich source of protein, vitamins and minerals. Consider eating fruits and vegetables such as bananas, cucumber, carrot, potatoes, grapes, tropical fruits, citrus, berries and apples. They are rich in calcium, iron, vitamin D, and Zinc. Oily fish such as salmon, trout, herring, sardines, and pilchards are rich sources of omega-3. It’s recommended that you eat at least 5 portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables daily. You can also aim at 2 portions of fish a week, including at least 1 portion of oily fish. They keep you healthy, improve cognitive strength, regulate blood pressure, strengthen your bone and prevent cardiovascular diseases.

Research has shown that the most popular reason why so many people observe a diet plan is to maintain a healthy weight. Attaining a healthy weight does not mean you need to starve yourself of food. Eating a healthy, balanced diet plan can help you maintain a healthy weight. Seek the opinion of a nutritionist to guide you on proper diet plan for you.

What does a healthy eating plan look like?

Although the health result you desire determines what diet plan you subscribe to. For instance, someone who desires weight loss would subscribe to a diet plan that regulates fat and calorie intake. A pregnant mother would subscribe for a diet plan that would keep her baby and her healthy and prepare her for postnatal life.

The best way to give your body the balanced nutrition it needs is by eating a variety of nutrient-packed foods every day, and this can seamlessly achieved by having a diet plan. Generally, a healthy diet plan emphasizes vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat dairy products such as lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts at controlled portion sizes.
