A Key Ingredient You May Be Missing From Your Diet ( 2 minute read)

You guessed it Apple Cider Vinegar. Apple cider vinegar has been around for a long time. It was used thousands of years ago, for detoxification, treating pneumonia, and weight loss. I must admit before doing my own research and implementing apple cider vinegar to my diet I had no clue how beneficial it is for our health. The apple is one of God’s greatest health-giving foods and vinegar is mentioned eight times in the Bible: four times in the old testament and four in the new testament. Since biblical times, vinegar, known as “the poor man’s wine” has played a major role in the lives of both the rich and the poor. Millions of people worldwide never get the health benefits of apple cider vinegar. Many people have a preconceived idea that apple cider vinegar is harmful to the body. But it’s really the distilled, pasteurized, filtered, white, malt and synthetic vinegars that must be avoided for human consumption.

So How Does Apple Cider Vinegar Help People Lose Weight?

Apple cider vinegar accelerates the body’s ability to break down and derive nutrients from fats and protein efficiently and quickly from the digestive system, which means a faster metabolism and more vitality. The potassium that apple cider vinegar contains makes it work. Potassium in apple cider vinegar promotes cells, tissue, and organism growth.

In addition to potassium, apple cider vinegar contains these and other health boosters:
  • Enzymes: chemical substances your body produces to help boost chemical reactions in your body.
  • Calcium: necessary for transmitting nerve impulses, regulating muscle contraction, and maintaining healthy bones.
  • Iron: an essential mineral that is important for your blood.
  • Magnesium: a mineral that has many beneficial effects on your body, most important its impact on heart health.

Here Are A Few Ways To Include Apple Cider Vinegar In Your Diet.

  • An easy method is to use it with olive oil as a salad dressing. This is particularly tasty with leafy greens, cucumbers and tomatoes.
  • It can also be used for pickling vegetables, or you can simply mix it into water and drink it.
  • The amount of apple cider vinegar used for weight loss is 1-2 tablespoons (15-30 ml) per day, mixed with water.
  • It is best to spread this out into 2-3 doses throughout the day, and it may be best to drink it before meals.
Bottom line, apple cider vinegar certainly is quite good for you! So if you can deal with the flavor of it, or if you just honestly feel like drinking apple cider vinegar makes you feel healthier, then I say go for it! At the end of the day, I’m all about anything that will encourage people to eat healthier. Just don’t expect apple cider vinegar to make the weight magically fall off, because it won’t. Remember, weight loss is simply a byproduct of living a healthy lifestyle overall, which involves both eating healthy foods consistently and exercising regularly.

    1. Happy to do so. I tried the ACV thing for a couple weeks but the problem I had was I couldn’t tell if it went bad or not.

  1. Such a great post – thank you!

I’ve heard much about apple cider vinegar recently, but nothing as clear, concise, and informative as your post!

    Kudos!

  2. I always add a spoon of raw natural honey to my eight ounce glass of water with the apple cider in it but I have to add something here and tell you that I prefer the apple cider that is raw and unprocessed and still has what is called “The Mother” in it. I read once where the natives of Vermont drink this stuff “Neat” without any water at all. I am sure I could never do that.

  3. Is there any brand of apple cider vinegar that you recommend over another? I have a salad with my dinner everyday and make my own dressing. Substituting apple cider vinegar for white or red whine vinegar is easy.

  4. I’ve read so much about this and it all sounds great. I’ve bought it twice and just can’t work it into my diet in a way that doesn’t taste gross (to me). Any other leads on recipes to incorporate this into weekly meals? Thanks! 🙂

  5. LIVE makes sparkling apple cider vinegar with coconut vinegar/grape flavor. I discovered it when I was purchasing Kombucha from the same company. It is refreshing and I enjoy the flavor!

      1. I absolutely love LIVE’s Kombucha. Many of them are soda flavors. I gave up soda years ago, so my curiosity got the best of me. I had to try them! I can’t believe how yummy these truly are.
